Energy Saving Light Bulbs

A great way to go green is to switch to energy saving light bulbs. It helps the enviroment and also helps the pocket book. This seesm like it would be an easy switch at first, and then becomes a daunting task. The main deterrent to buying compact flourescents is the upfront cost of them. We all know that they will save money in the long run, but can be difficult to justify the change. Start with a plan to make the switch.

Dont try to do all of the lights in your house at once. The common misconception is that everybody is suppose to switch every light in the house all at once. Wait till the lights you have burn out, then switch them with the compact flourescent bulbs. Also, make sure to be flexible. Not all stores offer these bulbs at the same price. In fact, the price can very greatly from store to store depending on the store. Bulk stores are a good buy. And be sure to focus on one room at a time that way you can feel acomplished everytime you complete a room. Simply move bulbs around to obtain your goal.

Somethings to watch as you switch are simliar to buying regular light bulbs, but the older bulbs have a longer tradition of packaging, and advertisement. This would have made the buying of light bulbs much easier. Know your watts, size, and type of bulb you need. Speciality lights like dimmers require extra brain power by the people designing the bulbs, so make sure the labels match what you want them for. Also, the bulbs do emit a different color of light. It is whiter then the yellow comfort some have used to. Most of all have fun saving the planet.
